Islamabad Medical and Dental College was established in the year 2007 and is affiliated with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, recognized by Pakistan Medical Commission and approved by the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. It is recognized for MBBS, BDS, Post RN-BSN, 4 Years BSN, DPT, BS-MLT and Post-graduate programs in six disciplines of Dentistry. The Department of Physiology is recognized for FCPS Part-II training by College of Physicians and Surgeons. The institute prides itself for its renowned teaching faculty. The faculty has extensive teaching experience from both national and international institutions.

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) Islamabad was established through an Act of Parliament on 21st March 2013. The Vice Chancellor was appointed by the Chancellor – President of Pakistan, on the recommendation of Search Committee on 7th January 2014. Islamabad Medical and Dental College was granted affiliation with SZABMU with effect from 01.01.2016. The mission of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University is to be a premier research-intensive medical university that will educate medical students, paramedics, and postdoctoral fellows in accordance with international professional standards; to prepare clinicians to practice patient-centered medicine of the highest quality; and to identify and answer fundamental questions with regards to prevention and treatment of diseases, in health care delivery and in the basic sciences thereby to improve health through leadership, discovery and innovation in patient care, education and research.
